Our Story Idea
Our short film is about a boy and a girl getting ready to go out on a date.
The
girl starts by getting dressed and ready, using her phone to let her date know
where she’ll be waiting for them and what she looks like, she then heads out.
The boy is on the train heading towards the park where the girl will be
waiting. Whilst he is there he uses his phone to keep updated on the character
waiting for him, it is here that the audience will know for sure that both
characters are heading for the same location.
The
boy gets off at the station and both characters then see each other… and walk
straight past each other. The girl meets up with her girlfriend for her date
and the boy meets up with another character who will then be revealed to be
either a friend, a family member, or a dogsitter who was looking after his dog while he
was away.

| A brainstorm of possible ideas as rough notes These were rejected ideas to how our characters were connected |
The idea of our short film was to challenge the audience's idea of love. We had a same sex relationship and a close friendship between a person and a dog and neither of their love is presented to be less valuable than another. It also goes against the assumption that the two characters were in the relationship together.

I think the idea is good, but I'm wondering whether there is enough in the journey to keep the spectator interested? Can you think about whether the partnership can be intriguing in some way before the reveal? Otherwise, your audience (your age remember) may not have a reason to be interested...
